What notable things happened today?

What notable things happened today?

And who gets to decide?

I woke up. I got out of bed. I ate a red solo cup full of cereal and drank the sugary-cinnamon milk that waited for me at the bottom while I consumed my now soggy, crazy squares that I had been craving from the night before.

I brought my child to school.

I said goodbye to my husband.

I took a shower.

I started a load of laundry — and I’ll probably remember to switch it over.

I decided what I’d make for dinner tonight and I placed an online order for groceries.

I charged my phone—and mostly stayed off of social media. Mostly.

I filled up my cup with new ice and water, trying to stay hydrated. I vowed that I’d drink plenty of water today though I’ll be happy if I dink one of my over-sized glasses.

I shifted through photos to print and to store.

This week has been busy already and it is only Wednesday. There is always a shortage of time with an excessive amount of things to get done.

Somedays the most notable things are just the things you managed to get done. Somedays the most notable things are (somewhat) getting through your errands in an (almost) respectable way to get them done. Somedays the most notable things are not crying in the corner over the slightest inconvenience. Somedays the most notable things don’t seem so notable at all.

But when I eat a cupcake at the dance studio today as we get ready to send off our graduating senior and we pack up our props for recital this weekend, when I have finished the final touches of our program and lock up the door for the night, when I come home to double check costume bags to make sure everything is ready to go for the show…

The most notable things that will have happened to day will be the all the things I am grateful for.
